Want to Know Which Launch is Right for Your Online Course?

Hey Mamas!

There is not a one size fits all launch. And I realized this, when I launched my online course with no list, no engagement, and little to no followers on social media…I made $27.

I went the traditional route. The traditional route is to launch your online course to your email list (if you have one), invite your social media followers, have a webinar or two, open your cart, and watch the dollars roll in. I mean that’s what they tell you, right?

Raise your hand if you did this and you made $10K?

I don’t see that many hands. And the reason why is because this launch doesn’t work for every business. But none of these online course gurus told me that.

Here are a few things that determine what type of launch method you should use to ensure you have a profitable online course launch.

  1. How many people do you have on your email list.

If you have a small email list, (meaning 250 or less) you could possibly sell to this small group and 1% to 2% would buy. (This also depends on how engaged your audience is.) So for a small list of 250 that is 2 to 5 buyers. Now you would need to factor in the cost of your online course. Would this amount of buyers meet your income goal? Probably not. So you would need to consider an additional launch method to ensure you make more sales and earn more income.

  2. How active is your email list?

An engaged email list is crucial when launching to your online course. Your subscribers become engaged when you have been consistently sending emails full of valuable information that helps them with what they are struggling with. Engagement also means that they open your emails and respond to your call-to-actions (CTAs). If your engagement is low to non-existent, launching to your email list probably won’t be the best idea and you might not get the results you want.

  3. How many social media followers do you have?

Launching to your social media followers can be great…if you have social media followers, LOL! Growing a social media presence is beneficial to the success of your online course (but getting them into your email list is always the goal). When you have a massive social media following, 10K or more, launching your course to them should yield you VERY lucrative results (again this depends on if your followers are engaged). But most of us are still in the process of building a following, therefore launching to them would not be the best thing.

  4. Do you go live?

Going live is a really big deal if you are trying to convince potential course buyers to buy your online course. Live video immediately shortens the know, like, and trust process. Why? Because people can see you in ACTION. They can see how you talk, your mannerisms, your facial expressions, and more importantly how you TEACH! This is why it is such a good idea to host webinars and other live events, like Facebook and Instagram Live. If you have already been doing this consistently, there is a good chance you can sell your online course live. If you have not been doing this, this strategy may be difficult to implement.
